Requirements
StringTalker requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later and a paired Apple Watch running watchOS 10 or later. The iPhone app manages reaction clips; the Watch detects releases and plays the clips.
Getting started
- Install StringTalker on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
- Open the iPhone app and allow access to files when importing a reaction clip.
- Open StringTalker on the Watch and allow microphone and Health access when prompted.
- Place the Watch in the position you use while shooting and adjust sensitivity, delay, and volume.
- Tap Start Listening before shooting. Stop listening when your session is finished.
Importing reaction clips
Use the iPhone app’s clip library to import an audio file from the Files app. Imported clips are stored on your iPhone and transferred to the paired Watch. Supported audio formats include M4A, CAF, WAV, MP3, and AIFF.
Troubleshooting
- The Watch does not detect releases: confirm that listening is active, the Watch is worn in your usual shooting position, and microphone access is enabled in Settings.
- Clips are missing on the Watch: keep the iPhone and Watch nearby, confirm they are paired, and leave StringTalker open briefly while the clips transfer.
- Detection stops in the background: allow Health access and start listening from the Watch. StringTalker uses an Archery workout session to keep detection active.
- Audio is interrupted: check the Watch’s current audio output and volume, then stop and start listening again.
Privacy
Microphone levels are analyzed on the Watch and are not recorded or uploaded. StringTalker does not use advertising or analytics code. Read the full Privacy Policy.
